Written by Gavin Good Scottish rock outfit Biffy Clyro [@BiffyClyro] is about to embark on its North American tour, which means it won’t be long before the group hits their Chicago stop: the House of Blues on April 5. The group just finished up its European tour, which included shows in Rome, London, and Madrid and is preparing for their American invasion. Biffy Clyro has been riding the success of their album Ellipsis, which soared up UK charts to No. 1 and went gold in 2016.
The album, which was Biffy’s second to hit No. 1 in the UK, sees the band partner with hip-hop influenced Rich Costey on the production, which resulted in a continuation of their move from their rugged, guitar riffs to a more eclectic sound that is more derivative of arena rock. The shift marks an ambitious move by the group to continue to explore new sounds, even after experiencing widespread success and reaching headliner status in Europe. Songs like “Wolves of Winter and “Animal Style” stand out as tracks that are likely to resonate with longtime fans, while “On A Bang” provides a fresh breath of innovation for the band. Tickets for the April 5 show at the House of Blues in Chicago are on sale now through Live Nation. Biffy Clyro is touring with American rock act O Brother [@obrothermusic], who will be playing a set as well. The show is for ages 17+. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show is slated to start at 8:00 pm.
