Written by: Gavin Good (@itsallG_O_O_D) The Chi Awards were Friday night at the Portage Theater to celebrate the culture and creative talent within Chicago. It was an event designed to honor and bring attention to young creatives and artists in many aspects, including music, fashion, poetry and dance. It was Amari H. Smith’s seventh event he’s put on for the city, and it featured performances from rising Chicago talents Warhol.ss and Brian Fresco, amongst other artists. It was a gathering of many area creatives and allowed people from the city and all over to connect and appreciate each other’s work and vision. One of my favorite parts of the night was the exhibition of Kim Products’ new clothing line, which was created and is owned by 16-year-old Chicago native Kimisha Moxley. It is exciting to see someone as young as Moxley strive toward ambitious goals, and her work and brand is an excellent example of what Chi Awards set out to celebrate from the start. Amari has yet to announce any more events for the city, but you can bet that he has more in store.
