I am very proud to announce what we are partnering with Social Works, Black Youth Project, Chicago Votes, Ballot Ready, and Turbo Vote to to present Flex Your Vote: A Millennial Celebration of Democracy.
This campaign aims to facilitate millennial voter activation, education, demonstration, and celebration; since young voters have always been of utmost importance in the democratic process. As entities that target youth through art, education, and civic engagement; we believe it is our responsibility to take the initiative in getting our generation involved in the political processes.
With that being said, we will be hosting registration pop up shops around the city next week to get people registered to vote. This has become one of the most crucial elections in history, and we need everybody to get out here and vote this year.
After everyone is registered, we're all going to march together in Parade to the Polls, November 7th to vote together. Finally we're concluding the series with an Election Day viewing party as the election results pour in.
Since we're all engaging in this election, it's crucial that we get educated about the people on the ballot on every level of the governing bodies. So, we are hosting a Town Hall meeting November 1st 6-7:30pm in the Pritzker Auditorium of Harold Washington Library, where a panel of speakers will reveal how we can uncover some of the actual issues our generation faces.
I need everyone to get involved with the elections and come out to register yourself to vote. The first event is a registration pop up shop at University of Chicago this Monday October 17th. More details, and other locations, will be announced this weekend. Have a good weekend and see you all Monday!
