The clothing label, in partnership with Zumiez, hosted a free show at Aragon Ballroom on Friday night with performances from Chicago’s own Joey Purp and The Hood Internet.
RIPNDIP gave out complimentary gifts bags with balloons, water bottles, and condoms to the full house. Thousands of plastic balls with the brand’s cult cat character Lord Nermal lined the floor of the historic venue. The centerpiece of the event was a massive ball pit that you had to jump on a springboard to fling yourself into. RIPNDIP’s colorful cat and alien mascots casually roamed around Aragon throughout the night. The weirdly awesome vibe definitely reflected RIPNDIP’s trippy skate culture brand.
This was Joey’s last show in the city until the new year rolls around. As always, he gave a high-energy performance and killed his set. One of the most consistent artists in the city, the Savemoney rapper has been showing out since his mixtape iiiDrops dropped earlier this year. Kami made an appearance on stage for a Leather Corduroy's classic and Towkio came out for Playin Fair. And it wouldn’t be a Joey Purp show if he didn’t finish with his whole crew on stage for Irie Trill Vibes.
RIPNDIP has a pop-up shop at 2519 W. North Ave until October 30th so be sure to stop by and check out their clothes, skateboards, and art installations before they head back to LA.
