On September 29th, 2016, Johnathan Ortiz, an aspiring rapper known as "John Doe" and a key member of his group NNO, was murdered in Chicago; just about three weeks after his group's first big show at the House of Blues.
He was gunned down on the 290 Eisenhower Expressway while driving with his girlfriend, the car was riddled with bullets. The incident was a senseless act of violence that resulted from road rage. John was only 22. He leaves his two group members, Chad Taylor aka ChadStar Taylor and Tyson Harvey aka Harvey Twain to carry on his legacy.
John and the members of NNO spent this year traveling the country, building the foundation for their dream. Besides performing at the House of Blues in September, John and NNO opened up for Dej Loaf at the Portage Theater. They also performed at Subterranean, the Harold Washington Center and the Urban Fetes showcase at SXSW.
John and his group lived on the road traveling to Miami to shoot a music video as well as going on two midwest tours which included shows in Iowa and Indianapolis. His group released their debut mixtape 3 weeks prior to this horrific loss and had already started recording their sophomore project.
John not only contributed his art to the group but consistently invested his finances. We're asking for your support to meet this financial goal in order to carry on his legacy as he envisioned and properly release his music. John possessed an innate talent with a rare and genuine heart. With your help and contributions, he will continue to live on, inspiring people through his music. We appreciate any and all donations.
