2019 has been quite the year for Ashoka so far. The New York emcee has been releasing an array of singles that show his versatility as an artist, and his latest release “Regular Day” is no different. He links back up with fellow New York city producers Dorante and FabeStar again after countless drops during the summer and turns out a banger so hot there might not even be a winter this year in the city.
Zac Flewids has had the northern rap scene on lock for the entirety of 2019, and his debut EP Songs to Drown To captivated listeners and gained him a great following in the US. Since then, Zac has kept his foot on the gas and released a handful of loose tracks, with “Bleach” being the latest. With production handled by his right hand Cherry Blu, the beat is a guaranteed highlight of the record. Distorted vocalizations make the track have that signature underwater sound Fluids is known for but when paired with the melodic guitar plucks and a rolling drum pattern, it makes the track feel almost sunny.
A return to form occurs for the duo of Da-P and Mick Jenkins as both musicians connect on their latest offering "Lemonade,” which is their first collaboration since 2016’s “Sunkissed,” and they mesh together perfectly. Da-P has been on the Soulection roster as a producer for years now and has combined an array of influences from his globe-trekking adventures on this piece of production. The keys feel as woozy as ever and the drums have an odd mixture of snap and smoothness to them.
