Calez has been building a buzz in Chicago for a while, making many of the up and coming list. But there’s no more ‘next’ for Calez. After dropping his 5-track EP last week (March 20th), it’s safe to say Calez is here.
Leading with single “Cool” which features the word craftsman Mick Jenkins and Alex Wiley, Calez puts together a cohesive body of work. Leaning on his ability to articulate his bars in a variety of rhythms, Poppa give off a hip-hop feel. The beats are well picked, the wastes no breaths, ad libs or bars, and really give you a variety of moods to vibe to.
Peep “Boss Shit”, it’s bound to make any function go up, or “Concrete Rose” which is full of soul. Calez has a story to tell, and it knows how to tell it.
