There are only a few creators powerful enough to induce silence. I remember how silent Chicago felt the first time Graduation aired on the radio. Chance the Rapper did the same thing tonight, but I feel the serenity in the air from my dorm room in Los Angeles. I got just as excited as everyone back home, seeing Chance's face smiling down on South Central instead. The silence, this time, is ethereal
The holy trinity manifested as Coloring Book: Chance the Rapper's highly anticipated third major project. The tone is instantly uplifting, and the mood, joyous. The opening track, an ode to "Good Ass Intro" and "Ultralight Beam", welcomes us in our favorite curator's vision; with the help of Kanye.
Coloring Book is like a state of the Union address, introducing living themes to what we love to hear. It's genuine insight. It's beautiful progression.
I remember those days when #5Day scribbled with black sharpie on hand printed CDs, was Chance's tape. Three projects later, Lil Chano from 79th has the world's attention and Chicago's soul, in the palm of his hands. Coloring Book is exquisite and I can't wait to hear what else Chance has to offer music. Keep pushing humanity forward, right on.
