We got the best early Christmas present from Chance The Rapper & Jeremih today with their mixtape Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama. A collaboration between the Chicago natives has been on my wish list for years and they didn’t disappoint with this surprise project.
We got a juke jam with the title track, a stepping song with I’m Your Santa, a Jackson 5 rework with Stranger At The Table, plus Jeremih’s angelic vocals and Chance’s joyous presence throughout. The chemistry between Chance and Jeremih is as smooth as always and the playful mixtape surpasses all expectations of a holiday release. The nine-track project also features No Name, Lud Foe, King Louie, and Hannibal Buress. A blessing to Chicago, Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama was made by and for the South Side.
Fresh off the SNL stage, Lil Chano from 79th keeps making the city smile. Chance may have just solidified his spot as the most influential artist of the year with Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama and we can’t wait to see what he makes happen in 2017.
