Chicago Throwback- EC ILLA "On Ill"

EC ILLA is Chicago’s best known secret and the north side’s self proclaimed. EC ILLA is a legend in the old school graffiti/hip hop/breakdancing world and throughout the north side of Chicago. 

He and his crew are from what we call the north pole and uptown area, this video is actually filmed right off the lake by Wilson. Chi town isn’t really known for its Hip hop in the 90’s,

 New york and the West coast ran that but if you do your research you can find a plethora of amazing music coming out of our city. EC Illa made what he called dirty underground hip hop at a time when white kids who did this were dismissed (He started gaining popularity way before Eminem) and he was deep in the gang culture* his nickname on the streets was actually WHITEFOLKS. Nevertheless his videos are historical gems that show us a glimpse of what it was like to be involved in hip hop in Chicago almost 20 years ago.
