CJ Run has been releasing music in their own lane for some time now, but with “Nothin’ Like You”, there’s finally a signal that CJ’s back in mode. Their first drop since July, the track is a hard-hitter over stellar production from Champaign-based yourbeautifulruin. ​

CJ’s confident bars intertwine seamlessly with yourbeautifulruin’s resounding, celestial melodies, as they rap about having what everyone else doesn’t. CJ raps, “I’m that they/them in your playpen, musically I’m demonstratin’ how I came in with the heat, all the world’s got on rotation”. With a minute to go, there’s a stunning beat switch, which CJ masterfully draws into a call-and-response sequence that invites head bobbing and makes self-confidence rise within. “Nothin’ Like You” is quite the appetizer from CJ, who is set to drop a project on March 1.
