Trees don’t shed leaves to die, they shed leaves to create space to blossom again. Like falling leaves, announcements floated their way onto femdot.’s Twitter at the beginning of this month of a new documentary, a brand-new single, and finally, the signing to Chicago label Closed Sessions.
In his new documentary with Closed Sessions, femdot. shares why he’s inhaling crisp autumn air and exhaling these exciting career decisions: “Right now… something can happen here, and something is very possible, and we’re on the cusp of something that I feel is larger than ourselves.”
The Chicago MC's progressive mindset is reflected in his new single "happyoctober." The relaxed piano, steady bassline, and natural drums guide the instrumental with Femdot’s graceful words providing the bounce. It’s clear why Femi is attractive to Closed Sessions, he’s a true student of the game, making him one of the best young lyricists Chicago has to offer. femdot. is able to inject emotion into his songs not only through which words he chooses, but also with the way he chooses use them. He varies his stress so evenly, that his punchlines add their own instrumental layer to the track unlike the lengthy stylings of other artists his age. And then you listen to what he’s saying and vividly clear blips of emotive life are painted through his words. It’s crystal clear with "happyoctober." that femdot. loves to craft and transform words and put them into pieces of music that makes you feel. This track feels like fall, it feels like new, it feels like head nods and happiness.
