While Chicago and Atlanta have the rap game’s brightest stars, the home of hip hop still produces quality artist by the boat load, and Jimi Tents proves he is one of them with his latest freestyle “Phone Down”.
With a hard hitting bass line coupled with an entrancing melody, the collective known as The Vamp has Tents locked down on the production side for him to unleash his resentment for what he sees in the rap game. For a solid three minutes, Jimi delivers heavy bar followed one after the other, with the track itself starting with a bold threat to “bomb Flex until that nigga start playing my shit”. Jimi goes on to address the current state of the rap game, asking “why every rapper fake deep, sell dope or got depression”.
The track is just a freestyle but proves Tents is not one to be fucked with. As he prepares for his show at Rough Trade on April 18th, it will be a sight to see what the young emcee has in store for the rest of the year. Until then, peep “Phone Down” below.
