Welcome to Blue Line.
In what is her first EP ever, Joz delivers an impressive freshman effort for what is a unique and complete body of work.
The EP got its name from the commute that took place during the recording process. Although recorded in Minnesota, a lot of the production took place here in Chicago, causing her to take the notorious westbound train back and forth. It’s also the train closest to where she currently resides.
When you first hear Joz’s sound, Kali Uchis and Alina Baraz might come to mind. Her voice has touch. Her lyrics tiptoe rather than plant foot. And the production amends to both qualities accordingly.
Joz stands apart though. She wrote all of the songs, produced, recorded and mixed them as well. On top of that, all five tracks were made in her dorm room.
The ambient sounds are soothing and the songwriting is incredibly thought provoking. Check out the local Chicago product and share.
