Chicago's old school recently performed with the leaders of the new school, in a historic fashion, at Chance The Rapper's fifth annual "Open Mike" event.
Chance started the "Open Mike" event, in honor of former YOUMedia coordinator Mike Hawkins, better known as Brother Mike, who died suddenly at the age of 38 in December of 2014. Hawkins was a mentor to not only Chance The Rapper, but many other lyricists growing up in city, including Vic Mensa, Saba and Noname Gypsy. The event aims to carry on Hawkins work by allowing the youth of Chicago to have a positive outlet for their emotions, either through music or any other form of artistic expression.
In honor of the event's fifth running, fellow Chicago natives, Kanye West & Vic Mensa made a special guest appearance. The artists performed "All Day" and "U Mad" for all those who attended the event. Check out the performance below.
