Blossoming rap star Lil Skies is back on our pages today thanks to an audacious, one-take video for his track “Welcome to the Rodeo”. The Pennsylvania-based artist teamed up with his go-to man, Cole Bennett, and they decided to make it a tribute to the infamous Lil Wayne “A Milli” video.
Skies takes the roll of Wayne, sliding off the bus and going out to greet swarms of fans while still being depicted as his young self (he does it while sporting a custom Plano High School-Lyrical Lemonade letterman jacket). He smoothly moves through the set, followed by Bennett through thoughtfully constructed shots (which director of photography Cole Schwartz certainly played a role in). Though Lil Skies’ only connection to Plano is Bennett, who went there, the video has a homecoming sort of vibe to it, like Skies is coming back to where he popped off from. Be sure to give the “Welcome To The Rodeo” video a look on Cole Bennett’s Youtube channel via the link below.
