Written By: Tracy Giunta Dang Mary J Blige(MJB), you are just dangling these new tracks from " The London Sessions" in front of us while we have to wait for the whole album release on December 2, 2014. " A Whole Damn Year" is a track by Mary that describes the struggles of someone who was hurt by someone, most likely physically. She describes the affect the experience had on her season by season. "Winter took most of my heart, spring punched me right in the stomach, summer came looking for blood and by autumn I was left with nothing" In the track, Mary J Blige gives us some background on this horrible experience she went through, saying,"It has been a bad 5 years." She is now desperately trying to give her new lover an understanding of what she needs from him. Mary describes the recovery process over the past year, "It took a whole damn year to repair my body, took a whole year to trust somebody, gonna take a long long year for me to touch somebody." This track is just screaming with themes of abuse, recovery and moving past the whole experience. Mary J Blige has once again created a track that many women can relate to and for some, this track may be just what they need to get them through a difficult time.
