Futura Bloom commanded the crowd at their first live performance since their name change (formerly known as New Kingz) at Emporium Bar in Chicago’s Wicker Park. Bringing the heat to a frigid Thursday night, they performed crowd favorites like “Body Type”, “Rare Candy” and a cover of OutKast’s “Roses”.
The rap duo, consisting of Sly Luke and Ali for the Go, had an undeniably powerful stage presence that reflected that of seasoned veterans. Rapping over a live band, their mix of eclectic sounds is notable as it contributes to an ever-growing genre blending trend we see in artists like Noname. After the release of their first EP “Honey!” back in July and a successful live performance under their belt, 2017 was a great year for Futura Bloom and leaves us wondering what’s next for the duo.
