Prime has been following the development of Phoelix for a while and it’s amazing to see his growth as an artist.
Touring with the likes of Eryn Allen Kane, playing bass with Smino, and garnering producing credits on both Noname’s and Saba’s most recent projects, the Chicago native has been also grinding on his own music.
The producer/rapper/singer has a signature sound that he has been able to patton himself. The warped outer-body synth he places on his vocals compliments the tone and cadence of his bars. And his familiarity with his production kit is one built over hours of relentless mastery of craft. How could you be surprised then at how smooth and polished tracks like his newest single “Romans 7:21” Bombarding through the door Chance help open, Phoelix takes us to church. “Romans” tackles the battle we often face within, the want to do wrong, even though we have the best intentions. “I gave my soul to the Lord, to a deal I will decline.” Sit back and enjoy the ride Phoelix engineers.
