Check out Chicago artist Phenom's new track entitled "That Dough".
This track provides imagery of common realities known to many young adults in various Chicago neighborhoods. The song has a smooth riding melody filled with anecdotes of the inner city experience. A Nate Dogg esque chorus gives an emotional plea for the little green paper that runs the world. Phenom maps out his path to success from the trenches of poverty and gun violence in the lyrics of this inspiring track. Go hear "That Dough" below.
Phenom also dropped a track "All I Know" with Leaders 1354.
Phenom, the longtime mainstay and former labelmate of Kanye West released a loosie single last week with clothing line Leaders 1354, "All I Know (Crown)" that did fairly well in the greater blogosphere but today I have his follow up and the true lead single for his upcoming project, I Didn't Come, I was Sent, "That Dough" featuring fellow hometown artist and JAMLA-signee over a Rashid Hadee-crafted boom-bap-ish like masterpiece. It's a more soul-centric piece that sees Phenom getting back in tune with the sort of tracks we've come to expect from the conscious, uplifting MC.
