Written by: Kez The Dude (@kezthedude) Today is the day. Chris Crack is an artist from Chicago and leader of the New Deal Crew. The 28 year old rapper is coming off a big 2014 after having released a joint project with MC Tree called “Treeswag”. The soul dipped, cut throat lyricist is poised to take over the game in 2015. “Today” directed by D.C and produced by the legendary TMTHY TRTL, as he paints the psychedelic picture of a day in the life of the up and coming New Deal Crew. The instrumental is textured with vintage crackles, warm wailing vocals and bumping bass. The funky beat does not overshadow the seasoned rapper. Chris Crack rhymes like a prizefighter delivering punchline after punchline. No hooks just bars. The spastic and emphatic lyrics are complimented by the fast paced editing of the video. D.C does a great job of capturing the trill presence of Crack who travels from alleyways to the stage. Constantly, the video shows the Chris Crack expressing himself through his graffiti, his raps or his face. Crack and the New Deal Crew have a lot in store for 2015 including the “New Deal Crew Mixtape” as well as Crack’s solo effort Dope Boys Don’t Wait Til Summer.
