Representing Chicago independent label Tresside, versatile Chicago artist Rio Mutasim dropped a cover to legendary songstress Aaliyah to hold fans over till he drops s his upcoming album.
Fresh off a concert performance on the 17th, Rio has been busy to say the least. He dropped tracks Tarantino Jolie and Selfish over the past month and has been putting all of his energy into pushing his upcoming album out.
The track features a montage of three separate covers. It starts off with Rio freestyling to Destiny’s Child’s “Say My Name” followed by a his take on the acoustic tune “Her” by the Pixies, and he rounds up the covers by showing off one of the best flows in Chicago on Aaliyah’s “Are You That Somebody”. Rio is not your average chicago hip-hop artist. He has rock and alternative influences which is evidenced by both his song selection and style. Make sure you check homie out and support.
