Up and coming Chicago garage rock trio, The Liqs, released their EP, Eye2eye on July 11th. The EP starts off with 20 seconds of quiet reverb, and builds up into the jangly and powerful punk jam, Strangle Me. Nick Van Horn (Guitar, Vocals) sings with dire seriousness, "I need someone to strangle me," yet it almost seems as if he is upset that he needs someone else to do it for him. It's as if he wishes he could do it himself but for an unknown reason he can't. The project progresses into the title track, Eye to Eye, in which The Liqs take you to a summer day, gliding down the street on a skateboard in slow motion, not thinking about the future or the past, but blissfully living without a worry. The day seems to progress into night in the next track, Opiate Summer, which makes a complacent lifestyle of breaking into a summer carnival after hours, drinking beers and riding the Ferris wheel around and around seem like a dream come true. Did Nick find a way to strangle himself and end up in his own private heaven full of cheap beer, cigs, and skateboarding? Find out below: Written by: Charlie Suillvan
