St. Louis spitter Smino [@SminoBrown] just dropped his debut album, “blkswn”, an 18-track piece that sees Smino throw bars over a scintillating variety of beats, mostly produced by Chicago man Monte Booker [@montebooker].
Smino demonstrates his lyrical prowess throughout the project, including on the opener, “Wild Irish Roses”, on which he drops bits like, “we saw Nefertiti, you won’t believe me, posted like a lamp, come rub on a genie”.
The project is a breakthrough for Smino, who has been steadily adding to his fan base while working in Chicago as of late, with even renowned sound master Metro Boomin promoting the album on his Twitter. Even with his success, Smino hasn’t forgotten STL roots, choosing to release the project on 3/14, a salute to the city’s zip code. Be sure to give “blkswn” a listen, you can stream it on Spotify and Apple Music.
