The devotion level Smino has for his fans is legitimately UNREAL. Between opening up for SZA’s country wide Ctrl Tour and celebrating his 26th birthday, Smino still finds time to link up with frequent collaborator Sango and create a truly satisfying jam with “Sorbet”.
His sharp tongue cuts deeper than ever on this record, evident in the hook coming up with the witty wordplay “Shawty you taste like sorbet, beat it til it’s sore bae/Told her we could soar bae, told her we could soar to the moon”. The classic mesh of Sango’s percussion with Smino’s chameleon like flow just makes a perfect combo for any record as he drops bars about not standing for the pledge of allegiance, repping St. Louis to it’s fullest extent with references to the 314, and throwing in some taco based lines in there as well. Accompny that with the minor touches of Akenya’s beautifully sung happy birthday intro to Smino and the breakdown featuring some true crooning, “Sorbet” stands out as another unique hit from the Chicago located favorite.
Smino is on tour with TDE’s SZA and fellow Zero Fatigue member Ravyn Lenae, and dropped his debut album blkswn earlier in the year. Be on the lookout to see what comes after the tour.
