Written by: Kemdah Stroud (@chiefsaveahoe) Chicago duo, BoneLang, is back again; this time releasing their debut EP together, III's. The 3 track EP includes the songs "Gruesome", "Breathe Slow", and "Swagger". Each of the tracks encompasses Chicago's core: they're jazzy, heartfelt, and experimental in essence; yet remain trap in rhythm. III's cacophonous production, which we can attribute to Minus One, keeps the pace upbeat against the romantic saxophone from Simone Dulfor. Each song from the project maintains three main themes: love, change, and their intersection. Overall, this is one of the most well composed EP's I've heard in a while coming out of Chicago. It incorporates live instrumentation with traditional production, to create more of a sonic fantasy than a song. BoneLang themselves describe the project as such: "III's (Threes)" is a three song EP that speaks to three different kinds of love, recorded in three different homes, in three different seasons, in three different years, in which three different women exited our lives for three different reasons." If you have never heard anything from the duo, I would suggest starting with "Swagger", which is my favorite track of the project. Thanks for giving real music connoisseurs something to appreciate BoneLang, and check their debut EP out below.
