Chicago's all-female band, Highness have created considerable buzz with the rollout of their debut album "Young Taboo".
Chicago has made a move to the national audience as a collective scene, bringing with it a bevy of sounds, intonations and aesthetics that touch on a large swath of genres, styles and generational feels and today another talented act puts its stamp on the current renaissance going on in the Midwest as all-female group Highness released it's debut project, Young Taboo today on the heels of several well-publicized singles and just ahead of a live performance at Emporium in their hometown tomorrow night. Blending aspects of R&B, soul, avant-garde jazz-leaning instrumentation with hip-hop disctinly dipped in the delivery and energy of forward-thinking 90s acts. Highness has long possessed one of the most exciting live shows in Chicago and here they accurately adapt the feelings of that live experience into a tightly-wound seven track release that should prove a perfect entrance into the powerful, perspective-based sound of Highness. Feel free to reach out with any further info or interview requests. Having worked with a lot of the talent from Chicago, I can guarantee you won't want to front on this one.- Jake Krez
