Preparing for his second tour, Taylor Bennett reenergizes the Chicago music scene with the release of his new single “Minimum Wage”.
Linking up with Alex Lustig for a bouncy electronic instrumental, Bennett glides over every measure of it without missing a single beat, whether he is dropping bars like “We back and forth like a pendulum/Win for the summer, then back for the win again” or crooning about the everyday struggle of anybody working a low level remedial job. Bennett knows his worth and his purpose, and it shows in his lyrical prowess writing a truly universal hook, recognizing that he “give you that dollar, you give me the day”. Bennett shows he is two steps ahead in the game and five in his mind as he dreams of a “pool on infinity” and “big bottle Hennessey” while jumping around sporadically across each synth.
Bennett’s Restoration of an American Idol Tour has just kicked off on the 26th in Washington DC, and has fellow TBE label mate Bianca Shaw, as well as Kami and Melo Makes Music as supporting acts. Be on the lookout for more as Tay’s year starts to truly heat up.
