Written by: Tyler Brown Who is Taylor Bennett? is a question kids of all ages ask when they see this young star on the cover of their local newspaper. Well, Taylor Bennett is an 18 year old rapper out of Chicago, that has been pursuing his dream of rapping since he was a child. Taylor began his journey as a teenager roaming the streets of Chicago simply free-styling with his friends, or performing at a local open mic called You Media. Soon after, he began to actually record his music there, and promote it via social media platforms. Taylor began at only 500 views by him and his friends posting the link all over Facebook and text. They did this for his first few couple songs, and each time they got more & more views. Time went by quickly and now Taylor gets hundreds of thousands of views on all his songs. This is just the beginning for him, and it will only get better from here. "A Ways To Run" is a track that I still constantly play, although it was released over two years ago. He goes crazy over this beat, and only showed a small portion of what he really had to come. Since those days of just wasting time downtown, and free-styling on Chicago Ave. Taylor has embarked on a long-road that made him one of the most talked about artist in Chicago. He sold out three shows at the local venue Reggies, and sold out Lincoln Hall once. Then he began his campaign to end violence called #SaveChicago, and has donated funds from his last concert to Kids Off The Block. Since then Taylor has held a tight grip to his city with covering the front page of the Chicago Reader, Sun-Times, Tribune, performing in front of Mayor Rahm Emmaneul, and opening up for YG, Curren$y, and Nas. Taylor also just performed at Austin City Limits, and drew a large crowd for his performance. This weekend he is opening for Iggy Azelea at ISU accompanied by Logan. That show sold out in less than 15 minutes. But wait there's more...Taylor is heading on a 30 city tour this fall with Hoodie Allen and Chiddy Bang. For three of his shows you won't be able to grab tickets, but he has a Chicago show on November 26th! Now that your caught up with Bennett, you should know that he has dropped two mix tapes so far. The first one was called "The Taylor Bennett Show" that featured nine tracks. About 6 months later he released his sophomore project "Mainstream Music" that featured fourteen tracks and featured King Louie, Lil Herb, Spenzo and more. He now is preparing to drop a video to a song off his upcoming project that is soon to be announced.
