Written by: Tracy Giunta Notorious B.I.G ( Christopher George Latore Wallace) was born in NYC. He has been recognized as a hip-hop and rap performer. He attended the George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School. Some of his peers were Jay Z and Busta Rhymes. After high school, "Biggie" got involved in some criminal issues. He was arrested on weapons charges and was sentenced to five years' probation. It didn't stop there. He was later arrested for violating his probation. The last straw was when he was arrested for dealing crack. He spent nine months in jail. Notorious B.I.G. started rapping at an early age. He made a mix tape that got the attention of Uptown Records A&R and record producer Sean Combs. Sean Combs was later fired from Uptown records and started his own label: Bad Boy Records. Notorious B.I.G. decided to leave Uptown and join his friend Sean Combs and Bad Boy Records. He became a central figure on the East coast hip hop environment. This was a time was the west coast was ruling the hip hop scene. The rivalry between the east and west coast hip hop scene got nasty when Tupac Shakur said that Wallace and Sean Combs had information about the incident in which Tupac was shot 5 times. On Sept. 7, 1996, Tupac Shakur was involved in a shooting that resulted in his death. "Biggie" was at an event and was driving with his entourage. This was is Los Angeles.
Someone pulled up to Biggie's car and at the vehicle he was in. He was shot four times. He died at the hospital. It is such a travesty that these 2 young hip/hop artists who were amazing and found their craft in making upbeat and tracks only to be killed at a young age because of some east/west coast rivalry. Shit... Kill them with your musics, not guns!!
