Written by: Charlie Sullivan Toro y Moi has announced the release of their 4th studio album, What For?, scheduled to release on April 7th. But before the release, Chaz Bundick and crew gave us a taste, releasing their first single, entitled Empty Nesters. The track shows us a new side of Toro, a guitar based pop track reminiscent of the beginning of spring, or getting out of school for the summer. Using elements of glam rock, similar to the Smith Westerns, Toro y Moi captures the feeling of a summer afternoon during high school. Chaz gives a call to his high school years, shouting out Weezer's Undone, with the line "There's no one to destroy your sweater." Empty Nesters will give you the nostalgia of being young in the summer, while at the same time inspiring a sense of excitement for the summer of 2014. Be sure to check out Toro y Moi's What For?, on April 7th. Listen to the track below:
