If we have a discussion about who had the biggest 2016, Wisconsin’s own Trapo would have to have his name in the discussion. Not only did he drop the She EP to start the year off, he ended with another strong project in the form of Shade Trees. Now, as 2017 is in full effect, Trapo applies full pressure with his new single “Mayan."
Trapo hasn’t missed a step with his previous two releases of the year, and this continues with assistance from his addictive hook to his entrancing flow over a beat switch and all. The Mayans were the pinnacle of success at their time, and as Trapo heads for the precious of the rap game it is easy to relate to a civilization who has lived throughout history, and has a result, have “never die[d]”. The “sharks in the water” fail to get a scratch on someone who has far been past their shallow success level.
While Trapo has dropped three tracks thus far in 2017, he stated on Twitter that they are strictly loosies, and his project coming out this year is sure to be highly anticipated given his recent records. As we await that day, peep “Mayan” below.
