Everyone once and again there comes along an artist that just gets it. When talent meet purpose you usually have an unstoppable force, which is the best way to describe newcomer Xander Young.
When “On Me” starts, you hear Xander rapping acapella on what at first sounds like a beat that is for the most bare. Then out of nowhere the beat drops and Xander takes it to an entire different level.
What’s impressive about Xander, besides his buttery smooth flow and timing, is his vision for a single. Instead of your standard chorus, bars, then chorus formula that many artist get trapped into laying out when they first start recording, Xander starts the song off with his verse, brings in Ridley for the hook -- who really captures the essence of the song when she belts “On Me” at the top of her lungs-- lets her get her verse off, then harmonizes the hook with her for the last part of the song. These are small indications of someone who is approaching the music openly. Xander lets the world know that at the end, when the rubber meets the road, he’s that will hold it down, and he shows that. Xander is also a workaholic. Without have one single album released, he’s already working his third major project. His debut project, "Free Xan” wil have this single and is expected to be dropping sometime at the top of the year. Keep Your eyes on his development as he continues to grow as an artist.
